Dan Elson met at a very young age. He went to different schools together and shared a mutual love of all kinds of music with himself. He wrote his first song aged four. He can’t remember how it went, but knows it was about a star and was undoubtedly very good.

He started playing brass instruments before he was 7, and started working out what sounds good on a piano aged 11 (a process he still endeavours to master). At 15 he started playing the bass guitar so he could be in his friend’s metal band. At 16 he broke his finger and could not play the piano, so he learnt to play the guitar instead (luckily he broke a finger on the strumming hand).

He began recording his music aged 17 to win a bet with a boy called Adrian, who bet him that he couldn’t write, perform and record a song within a month. Within a week Dan had done so with the help of a boy named Funky. However Funky’s computer crashed days later losing all evidence of the song. As there was no physical proof of the feat Dan lost the bet. The boy who won is still, as far as we know, called Adrian.

Funky assisted on Dan’s next 2 recorded songs, but soon Dan had learnt the art of making computers do vaguely what you want them to and was going it alone. He has recorded over 80 original songs in the last 4 years, so that he can get them out of his head and hopefully get five minutes peace!

Daniel Richard Elson BA (hons) has a music degree, but doesn’t like to shout about it. He publishes his own compositions on www.sibeliusmusic.com and plays with/leads various musical groups. As far as Dan is concerned one of his greatest acheivements is writing a song which a six year old enjoys enough to sing around the house. Even if he does substitute the correct lyrics for "Can I tell you about my special hair"?

He has achieved international fame (well other-national obscurity) with air-play on the radio in New Zealand (where technology still dictates that the whole family sit around the wireless every evening for the magical little men inside to sing to them) as well as airplay on student radio stations over here in teh UK and on Radio City (apparently). He’s also discovered that there is nothing which excites the average myspace user like monkey based rock n roll.

 Dan Elson gigs on his own with an acoustic guitar, or with just about anyone else he can persuade to turn up.  Every show is a new and bizarre experience.
